Design plans and visualization poster:
In this project we came into contact with timber frame construction for the first time. The task was to make an addition of a school building with student housing, and when we got to the implementation phase, to draw up some details.
On the ground floor of the addition we find ourselfs a staircase which is connected with the school building below. on this floor we have 7 units for 1 person and 5 units made for 2 people, there’s also a big technical area located at the top left side of the ground plan. All these units are connected with a stretched hall wich at the right hand side is connected with a little ‘bridge’ to a already existing elevator. All the units except one are exactly the same, when you enter the unit there’s always a comfortable bathroom to our right hand side. the other space is totally open and includes sleeping, dining, cooking, storage and studying facilities. each room also has a minimalistic roof terrace.
If we enter the second floor we’ll see the exact same units as there are on the ground floor the only difference on this floor is that the hall is a little wider in comparing to our ground floor, plus there’s a little void that creates more daylight into the ground floor hall. when we arrive at the top of the stairwell we can also make a left hand turn which leads us into the common rooms including a chill room with relaxing sofas, a TV and a pool table. In this room there’s also a big common kitchen- and dining space which is connected with a large outdoor lounge set on the roof terrace.
For the roof of the gymnasium, the task was to create a public open space that attracts people who do not live here. There is a enormous rooftop bar, a big ping pong area, loungers and a darts area.
